Ireland unemployment rate rises to 4.4% in April from 4.1% in March

Ireland’s jobless rate edged slightly higher in April, numbers from the Central Statistics Office showed on Wednesday.

According to the CSO, the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate picked up to 4.4% in April, from a revised rate of 4.1% in March. On an annual basis, the jobless rate rose from 4.1% in the same month a year prior.

The number of those unemployed rose 7.6% to 124,200 in April, from 115,400 in March. Year-on-year, the number of those unemployed was up by 9,900.
